In 2004 Chief Terry Short worked with the Cuba, New Mexico Fire Department who had just bought their very first KME. The process was easy, the truck was built to spec, and there were no issues during the build process. The truck ran flawlessly, and the new apparatus drew a lot of attention to the town.
4 short years later, Chief short became Chief of the Town of Clayton Fire Rescue. When it was time to purchase a new truck he knew exactly which manufacturer he was going to have build his new Pumper/Tanker. He called Bob Lujan at Independent Fire Company the local KME Sales Representative for New Mexico. Since Chief Short had dealt with Bob Lujan before he knew that Bob would treat him as if he were buying a fleet of trucks as compared to a single pumper. The building process has been effortless each time he has been involved in the process. Whether progress was sent to him via e-mail or he was visiting the factory to see the truck for an in-process inspection, every question was addressed by Bob or the Sales Engineer assigned to his specific truck.
The Town of Clayton will continue to look to KME and Independent Fire Company for all of their fire apparatus needs, in fact they are currently talking to Bob Lujan about buying another KME Apparatus. Bob Lujan has maintained his relationship with the Chief and always makes sure that he is available if the Town of Clayton ever needs anything. Chief Short stated “ We are loyal customers of Independent Fire Company because when it comes down to Customer Service – No matter the size of the purchase or just an answer to question, we get the same excellent customer service.”
