Greenawalds Fire Department

Overview:

  • City Population – 18,000
  • Fire Department – 35 Volunteer Firefighters
  • Coverage Area – 17.2 square miles
  • Apparatus – 8 total apparatus

The Greenawalds Fire Company made their first purchase in 2006. At the time the city was growing rapidly and they were in need of not only a bigger fire station but some more equipment. After a successful bid process KME was awarded the bid to work on the fire company’s first KME Heavy Duty Rescue Unit. Horrocks Fire & Rescue Apparatus who is the Sales Representative Organization for Eastern Pennsylvania helped make the process as pleasant as possible. Steve Moyer from Horrocks made sure he was available to work with the fire department whenever they needed.

KME treates you like more than a customer
“As with any major project, being able to work directly with one person during the process makes it more personal and streamlines the project to eliminate miscommunication and unchecked mistakes.”
Chief Dennis Smith

The KME staff made every effort to work with the fire company to come to a resolution that first and foremost, satisfied the fire company and then worked within the confines of KME. The Greenawalds Fire Company was pleased with their first purchase, they enjoyed working with KME so much that when it came time to purchase more trucks in 2009 there was no competition. KME and the Greenwalds Fire Company were back on the drawing table designing a new Pumper and a new Tanker to satisfy the needs of the community they serve.

Chief Smith stated: “Working with Sales Engineers Cat Arthur, and Andy Yenser as our primary points of contact during the building of our three apparatus, made the process enjoyable and allowed for the best results possible. Cat and Andy were available whenever we needed, returned calls, and were responsive to questions and requests. More than that, one could not ask for. They were professional and truly concerned about putting together the best product for our fire team.”
